Sitting in the lounge by the fire in Mangawhai, it's warm and the rain is pouring down outside. There is no place to take off your shoes so run inside the door and take your shoes off, put them by the fire to dry.. that's the 'Winterless North'  for you, in fact it's the wet wet north when it can be very splodgy..
